How to draw a firefly

The Lower Lab was remote due to the pandemic during Spring 2021. We wanted to come together virtually to enjoy our lab community and take a break from all of serious Zoom meetings taking up our lives these days. So Lourenço Martins, a senior Neuroscience major in the lab and dynamic artist, developed a firefly “Draw Night.” Similar to Paint Nights offered at studios during the before times, this tutorial is designed to guide anyone, from the beginning artist to experienced, through creating a firefly drawing using readily available at-home materials.

To make it even more festive, we wore funny hats (see below).

From Lourenço:

“Hi everyone, I was inspired to make this video after leading a draw night with my undergrad research group! I’ve always wanted to meld my love for fireflies with my artistic endeavors and then share it with a greater audience. A short tutorial full of firefly facts and my comedic banter, this video is friendly to any and anyone who wants to create their very own Winter firefly to share with family and friends.”

We hope you will enjoy this video!
